Curriculum Vitae:

Kevin brings considerable know-how and international experience to the Foundation, having led several international technical teams in the implementation of small to large-scale interdisciplinary projects in energy, waste management, closed looped cycle production (CLCP), sustainable consumption and production (SPC), Cradle to Cradle® (C2C), Circular Economy (CE), and climate change mitigation initiatives throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

For more than a decade, he served as Senior Energy and Sustainable Development Specialist at the Department of Sustainable Development of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C., addressing sustainable development challenges throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. From 2008 to 2015, Kevin designed, developed and managed the Closed Looped Cycle Production in the Americas Program where he introduced and lead the first regional effort to apply and validate the concepts of Cradle to Cradle®,  Closed Looped Cycle Production, and Circular Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean region. He and his team pioneered the first practical applications of C2C,  CLCP, and Circular Economy in businesses in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago, and helped create awareness about these innovative concepts and principles across the Latin American and Caribbean region.

 

From October 2015 to August 2016, Kevin served as the Senior Program Manager for the Caribbean Region at the Worldwatch Institute, a renowned think-tank based in Washington, D.C. Since October 2016 Kevin continues to serve as a Senior Fellow at Worldwatch with specific focus on the application of circular economic thinking in island nations in the Caribbean.

 

Kevin is presently board member of the Caribbean Green Technology Center in the U.S. Virgin Islands; is member of the Renewable Energy and Carbon Management Advisory Group of the Cradle to Cradle Standards Development Advisory Group at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII) based in San Francisco, CA; and is the founder and first Chairman of the Circular Economy Platform of the Americas

 

Through these opportunities he has been able to built an extensive network and experience working with multilateral organizations, international, regional, and national development aid and technical assistance agencies, and financial institutions with focus on development in the Americas.

 

Kevin holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Development with specialization in Energy & Materials from the Copernicus Institute at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He obtained his bachelor’s  degree in Environmental Technology with specialization in Waste Management and Waste Water Treatment from the VHL University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Kevin is fluent in Dutch, Papiamento, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

 

Kevin aims to lead the ASDF team to bring about new ideas, innovative and practical solutions, and to make ASDF a professional and capable partner to address needs and opportunities for sustainable development in communities throughout the Americas.
