ASDF at CREF 2016

Kevin de Cuba | October 2016

ASDF is participating in the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF) 2016 held in Miami, Florida on October 17-19, 2016. CREF is the largest annual gathering of regional and international energy sector stakeholders exploring renewable energy investment opportunities in the Caribbean. Furthermore, CREF gathers about 500 delegates and 100 speakers across multiple tracks, and is the place to meet key market participants: from government officials, utilities and regulators to multilaterals, developers and providers of capital and technology.

ASDF’s Executive Director, Kevin de Cuba is the moderator of THE OFFSHORE SESSION: READY OR NOT? The goal of the session is to answer questions such as, how important is it for a diversified regional energy matrix that countries move to exploit their offshore resources? Is the potential for OTEC greater through the step-wise development of SWAC for resorts and hotels? They may be commercially viable, but can offshore technologies compete on price and deliverability when lined up against onshore wind, solar – and natural gas?. The speakers participating in this sessions are: Pierre Guérin from Bardot Ocean, Thomas Imbard from the DCNS Group, and Diego Acevedo from Bluerise.

ASDF through its Aruba Deep Sea Water Industry (DSWI) Initiative is actively engaging with like-minded organizations to promote and facilitate the development of marine energy solutions and in particular explore the economic use of Deep Sea Water for low carbon industrial development in Aruba and other island communities. ASDF is committed to linking people, ideas and actions toward using the significant renewable off-shore energy resource potential in the Caribbean Sea and achieve sustainable development in island and coastal communities.
