Ruben has more than 18 years of experience in the fields of meteorology, climate change, energy, and environmental sciences. Ruben started his career as meteorologist at the Chilean National Weather Service. Between 2002 and 2004 Ruben was stationed as Manager and Researcher at the Antarctic Meteorological Center of the Chilean Antarctic Base, in charge of the implementation of MM5 modeling system.. Upon return to Chile he became the Manager of the Long Term Analysis Section at the National Analysis Center from 2004 to 2007.
In 2007, Ruben moved to the USA as a Fellow Researcher to the National Center for Environmental Prediction of the U.S. National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Camp Springs, Maryland.
From 2008 to 2015 he served as a Program Manager and Senior Energy and Climate Change Specialist at the Department of Sustainable Development of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C., USA.
Currently he is the Senior Program Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean for the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) stationed at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
As Board Member of ASDF, Ruben continues to share his particular knowledge, network, and experience in the field of climate change to guide and contribute to ASDF’s mission.
